Guidelines for Residents for use of Transfer Station during the COVID Pandemic

Tips to getting through the Transfer Station without Causing Strife for you, your fellow residents and
especially the transfer station employees.
1. First and Foremost – Be a respectful citizen! We are in a global pandemic. The Sanbornton
Transfer Station is running exactly like 90% of the other transfer stations in the state.
2. PRACTICE social distancing!!!! Wear your mask for the five minutes you are out of your car in
order to keep yourself and the transfer station attendants safe.
3. If you are retired or not working on week days, please try to come on Thursday or Friday. This
will leave the Saturday rush to those who are working during the week.
4. Read the signs when you come in. Changes are occurring systematically so that we can open up
fully while keeping everyone safe. Check in on the multiple town Facebook pages including
Sanbornton Talks Trash for weekly information.
5. If you are unsure of what to do, ask questions politely! The transfer station workers are doing
their jobs according to their state permit and operating plan.
6. Do NOT look for the swap shop to open any time soon. We are in this for the long haul.
If these things do not work for you, you are more than welcome to skip the transfer station and have a
hauler take your trash and recyclables from your home. We welcome any constructive comments to be
made to the Board of Selectmen. They will pass them along to either the Transfer Station or the Solid
Waste Committee.
