Letter from the Chief

Sanbornton Fire & Rescue

Chief Dexter

I would like to welcome you to the official website of the Sanbornton Fire & Rescue, I hope you find the site informative. I take great pride in introducing our department, the Sanbornton Fire & Rescue is a “combination” department made up of On Call, Per Diem and Full Time Firefighters and EMS providers. Our full-time staff is made up of the Fire Chief, one Lieutenant and three Firefighter/EMT's with our On Call and Per Diem staff making up the rest of the 26-member department.

It is with the dedication of these men and woman that the department continues to be successful in providing fire, rescue, EMS, wildland and hazardous materials responses to a 50 square mile area and a population of 3,100 full time and another 3,000+ seasonal residents.

2023 has brought an exciting change in how we provide services to the residents and visitors to Sanbornton, starting in September with the move of the Sanbornton Police Department to their own space across the parking lot in the old town offices, the Sanbornton Fire & Rescue will absorb the entire building moving the administration into the old PD space and the current admin offices into bunk rooms with room for four beds. With the support of the tax payers at the March town meeting approving two additional full time firefighter/EMS providers it now allows us to go to 24/7 staffed coverage at the Central Fire Station.

Sanbornton Fire & Rescue is also one of the 35 member communities that make up the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid (LRMFA) offering Mutual Aid and Automatic Aid to each other in times of need when one community’s resources are stretched too thin.

We are also responsible for the enforcement of the State of New Hampshire’s “State Fire Code”, where the installation of all gas and oil appliances are inspected after installation, and the issuance of a “Certificate of Occupancy” with all new homes and businesses built in Sanbornton.

We thank the Sanbornton Board of Selectman and all the residents for their continued support of the department in providing the adequate resources that allow us to provide the level of service that all our residents and visitors have come to expect

Thank you for visiting our web page and come back often as we add content to better inform the public.
